Introduction: How to Make Simple Electric Elevator Model From Cardboard. Model for Science Project

In this project, I wanted to make an electric elevator model for your science projects using simple recycled materials and cardboard.


Supplies

• 5mm foamcore or Cardboard

• 250RPM DC 6V Motor

• 2mm Galvanized Steel Wire

• 3mm Ferrule Terminal

• Plastic Pulley harvested from Old DVD burner

• AAA Battery & Battery Holder

• AWG24 Wire harvested from old electronics

• ON/OFF/ON Slide Switch harvested from old electronics

• Optional for Cabin Light

  • 5mm LED
  • CR2032 Battery
  • On/Off Slide Switch harvested from old electronics

• Nylon thread


Print below PDF file on A4 Paper (or Sticker) for proper cut.


Model Plan Link Alternative

Step 1: Apply Plans to Cardboard

Stick plans onto 5mm thick foam core or Cardboard.

Step 2: Cut All Pieces

Cut all the pieces from the marked lines with a utility knife.

Step 3: Glue Facade Support

Glue the support pieces to the facade.

Step 4: Cut Guide Wire

Cut 2mm Galvanized Steel Wire, streighten with electric screwdriver.

Cut 26cm 2pcs straight wire for cabin travel guide.

Step 5: Facade Piece Assembly

Glue Facade Piece onto Base.

Step 6: Drill Holes

Drill holes for wire guide

Step 7: Stick Top Plate

Stick top piece onto facade piece

Step 8: Cabin Assembly

Step 9: Bushing From Ferrule

Heat up cable ferrule with lighter and remove the plastic part.

Step 10: Mounting Guides

Glue the 26cm long straight wires by attaching the bushing pieces between the upper and lower parts.

Step 11: Cabinet Mount

Glue the cabinet between the Bushing pieces.

Step 12: Cabinet Movement Test

Test that the cabinet moves freely on the rod guide with bushing parts.

Step 13: Mount Pulley

Mount pulley on 250rpm motor shaft.

Step 14: Cabin Rope Connector

Cut off the bottom of the syringe plunger and make a hole in it. Stick it on the cabin for cabin engine connection.

Step 15:

Tie a rope to the Cabin Rope Bracket.

Mount the DC motor at the top of the structure and glue the cabin rope to the plastic pulley attached to the motor shaft.

Step 16: Wiring Up Electronics

Solder the cables to the slide switch in accordance with the schematic diagram.
