Introduction: How to Make a Stuffed Crochet Pumpkin

What would Halloween be without Pumpkin carving and Pumpkin theme decorations???A pumpkin is one of the most classical symbols of the Halloween and Fall season. So here is yet another Halloween and Fall collection Crochet series Pattern. Today am sharing the pattern for these cute and adorable Stuffed Crochet Pumpkin.

These pumpkins are very easy to make and you can easily make one in no time at all. The stitches are all very beginner friendly too. I usually use Scrap Yarn as stuffing for my crochet projects. If you are like me, then this will be an awesome stash bursting project too. Make a bunch of these rustic Crochet Pumpkins and decorate your home throughout Halloween and Fall season.

Supplies

Materials Used:-

8 Ply Cotton Knitting Yarn

4 mm Crochet Hook

Fiber fill for the stuffing - You can use saved up yarn ends and scrap yarn as stuffing in place of fiber fill.

Step 1:

Round 1:-

Start with a Slip Knot.

Chain 22.

You can increase or decrease these starting chains according to the size which you intend to make.

1 Single Crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook.

1 Single Crochet in each of the remaining stiches.

Once you reach the end, Chain 1 and turn your work.


Step 2:

Round 2 :-

This round onwards we will be working only in the Backloops.

1 Backloop Single Crochet each in the first 2 Stitches.

1 Backloop Half Double Crochet each in the next 2 stitches.

1 Backloop Double Crochet in each of the remaining stitches untill the last 4 Stitches.

1 Backloop Half Double Crochet each in the next 2 stitches.

1 Backloop Single Crochet each in the last 2 Stitches.

Chain 1 and turn your work.

Step 3:

Round 3 Onwards :-

Keep repeating Round 2 untill you reach the size needed.


Step 4:

Joining and Stuffing:-

Fold your work and join both the ends with Single Crochets in each of the stitches.

Make sure to align both the side equally.

Flip the project inside out.

Using a Yarn needle, make running stitches on top of one opening and pull the yarn to gather up and close the opening.

Stuff the pumpkin with fiber fill. You can use saved up yarn ends and scrap yarn as stuffing in place of fiber fill.

Repeat the same on the other opening too and close the opening.

Leave a long tail for shaping the pumpkin.


Step 5:

Shaping :-

Use the needle to pull the tail through the center of the pumpkin so that you can wrap the yarn around the side, and pull back through the center. 


Tug the yarn gently to make it tight which will create a slight indent. 


Repeat this five to six more times to create evenly spaced indents around the pumpkin.


If you wish you can increase the number of indents.


Step 6:

Stem:-

Step 1:-

Start with a Magic Circle and Chain 1( Not Counted as a stitch)

5 Single Crochets in the magic circle.

Pull the yarn end to close the gap.

Make 7 to 8 rounds of 1 Single Crochet in each of the stiches.

You can increase the number of rounds if you wish to make the stem longer.

5 stitches.


Step 7:

Step 2:-

Chain 1(Not Counted as a stitch.

2 Single Crochets in each stitch around.

Slip Stitch on top of the first Single Crochet.

10 stiches.

Step 8:

Step 3:-

Chain 10 and 1 Single Crochet in the same stitch.

1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.

Repeat(Chain 10,1 SC in same stitch), 1 SC in the next stitch).

Leave a long tail and weave off.

Total 10 Petals.


Step 9:

Assembling:-

Using a yarn needle ,sew the stem on top of the pumpkin and weave off yarn ends.
