Introduction: How to Make the Calligraphy Alphabet A-M Capitals and Lowercase, Using Brush Pens.
Hello all! In this following instructable I will show you how to make a Calligraphy alphabet using brush pens. I made this instructable for intermediates in Calligraphy to have fun on a rainy day!
Supplies
Materials you will need
- Brush pens, black, pink, teal, green
- Size 8 1/2 by 11 inch white sketch book paper (not lined).
- A ruler
- A white colored pencil
- A HB sketching pencil
- Scissors
Step 1: Setting Up the Paper
- First, make sure you know the basics of calligraphy. After that you may start the steps.
Step One
- Draw light sketched lines (with your HB pencil) 6 1/2 inches apart down the paper. (There will be extra paper at the bottom).
Step 2: Cutting the Excess Paper
Step Two
- Using your scissors cut the excess paper that is left over at the bottom off at the sketched line.
Step 3: Start the Calligraphy Letters
Step 3
- There will be 4 letters in the first two rows, 3 in the 3rd, and 2 in the 4th.
- To start you letters use your black brush pen (make sure you draw thin going up and thick going down) , only do the first row of letters right know. ( Aa, Bb, Cc, and Dd)
- The letters might touch the lines that is okay.
- When doing the fancy curving line coming of the A your line should be thin.
DO NOT do the vines or the pink or blue lines OR the colored pencil shine that WILL come LATER. Ignore the Ee that will also come later.
Step 4: Doing the Second Row of Letters
Step 4
- This row of letters will include Ee, Ff, Gg, Hh
- The lowercase f and g will go below the sketched line.
- Draw thin up, draw thick down
- The fancy curving and swirling lines on the letters have to be drawn thin!
Step 5: 3rd and 4th Row of Letters
Step 5
- The 3rd row will include Ii,Jj, and Kk
- Draw thin up, draw thick down
- The 4th row will include Ll and Mm
- The capital and lower case M will be connected
DRAW THE CURVING LINES COMING OFF THE LETTERS THIN.
- The lower case j will go below the sketched line.
- After you finished that using your black brush pen go over the sketched lines.
Step 6: The Blue and Pink Lines
Step 6
- draw thin blue lines touching the thick black lines of the letters toward the inside.
- Draw thin blue lines on the curvy lines touching them as well.
- In some cases of the letters such as the F draw the blue lines on the bottom curving line
- Do the same with the pink lines, go next to the blue lines, THE PINK LINES WILL NOT TOUCH THE BLUE LINES
- Draw the pink lines a little ways out from the blue (like a 8th of a centimeter)
- YOU WILL NEED YOUR PINK AND BLUE BRUSH PENS FOR THIS STEP.
Step 7: Shine and Vines
Step 7
- Using your white colored pencil draw think little marks on the thick parts of the letters (two or three on each shape is enough)
- Draw the vines ( using your green brush pen) on one side of the letter (it does not matter which you may choose)
- I chose a mix of left and right
- you can add them to the curves if you want but I did not
