Introduction: How to Tie a Fishing Knot
Hi my name is Nickelas Lupkes. I work at the Traverse County Highway Department where I do things to help the county run smoothly everyday. Did you know it’s very easy to tie a fishing knot. In six easy steps I will teach you how to do it too. That way you can save a lot of time doing it.
Step 1: Let Line Out
The first thing to do is let some line out of the pole. Hold on to the line with your right hand while holding your fish hook in your left hand. Be careful not to drop the hook sometimes they’re small and hard to find.
Step 2: Put Line Through Eye Hole
Next take the line in your right hand and run it through the eye hole on the hook. Pull about four inches of line back towards the end of the pole. Put the two pieces of line next to each other.
Step 3: Spin the Hook
After that hold the two lines together in one hand and the hook in the other hand. Spin the hook eight times raveling the two lines together. Make a hole with the two lines by the eye hole on the hook.
Step 4: Put Line Through Hole
Next take the short part of the line and put it through the small hole you made in the line by the eye hole on the hook. It’s important to keep a good grip on everything right now or it will just unravel.
Step 5: Pull Tight
Then hold the short part of the line and the hook in one hand and the long line connected to the pole in the other hand. Pull the two apart making the knot tight. At this point you should have a small tight knot connected to the eye hole on the hook.
Step 6: Cut Off Extra
Lastly cut or burn the extra line off that is connected to the knot. This will make it so the fish don’t touch the line and swim away without biting the hook. If you burn it off it can also make the knot stronger by not allowing the string to pull out of the knot.
