Introduction: How to Update an Old Dell Precision 690

How to upgrade an old Dell Precision 690 Workstation computer to a modern computer with latest generation graphics card.

    • Samsung 980 Pro SSD 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2
    • Kingston HyperX DDR4 3600MHz PC4-28800 32GB 2x16GB CL18 (RAM)

    Step 1: Motherboard

    You have to adapt the new motherboard to the tray where it is placed by making the necessary holes.

    Step 2: The Box

    You have to make space to be able to place the tray with the motherboard and to be able to place the other components

    Step 3: The Graphic Card..

    You have to modify the back of the box to be able to place the graphics card and be able to screw it. As the size is larger, a screw adapter must be placed

    Step 4: The Fans

    Aas dell fans are different, it is necessary to change the wires of the cable with the appropriate connector.

    Step 5: The Button...

    You have to remove the front and you have to place a new button that brings a cable and a connector for the motherboard.

    Step 6: All Components Together...
