Introduction: How to Write an Effective Instructable

The instructable site has grown by leaps and bounds and there are many nice articles with a lot of pictures. Unfortunately, the non-paying viewers cannot get the full benefit of your instructable due to different ways the articles are presented to them. This instructable will attempt to lay down a guideline to create an article that will be useful to all.

Step 1: The Introduction Page

Introduce your project thoroughly. Many articles are hard to understand as they do not explain the purpose of the item being constructed and the problem being solved. E.g., an article on making chocolate cake needs to explain why one would go to the trouble instead of buying it, e.g. it will be cheaper or better in taste or uses novel ingredients, etc.

Step 2: Pictures

A picture is worth a 1000 words, provided the picture is large enough to see and is clear enough to show the details. Take pictures as close as possible because in many cases the shrunken pics do not show enough details.

Also, try to limit yourself to 1 picture per page as the non-paying public cannot view more than 1 picture in large size. This is the single most important point to implement in your instructable.

Just following these simple strategy will make your article universally useful.
