Introduction: How to Make a Vertical Phone Stand

Have you ever tried to use your phone camera without holding it? You were probably sticking it in awkward places or made someone else hold it for you. I have a better solution. How about a portable stand that holds your phone in place?

Step 1: Materials

Materials:
- Foam Board (you can use anything that is flat and stiff)
- Bristol Board
- Rubber Bands
- Tape (it doesn't matter which kind you use)
- Phone

Tools:
- Blade
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Ruler

Step 2: Cut Out a Few Rectangles

Cut out two 5.5 x 7.0 cm Bristol board rectangles.

Cut out four 7.5 x 7.0 cm Foam board rectangles.

Step 3: Tape Up the Edges

Tape up the shorter end of the Bristol boards.

Then tape over the existing tape, now covering the entire side.

Finally flip the boards over and push both ends together, then tape them together with no gaps in between.

Repeat for the other two boards.

Step 4: Fold the Bristol Board

Fold the Bristol board and use a pencil to roll it.

Step 5: Putting It All Together

Tape each open end of the Bristol board to the foam board

Step 6: Carve Out Some Notches

With the blade, carve out four 0.5 x 0.5 squares at the top and bottom of the stand

Step 7: Attach the Rubberbands

First, wrap the rubber band through the slots.

Then pull the rubber band out of the top slot, twist and wrap around the side.

Step 8: Use It!

Simply insert two fingers in the bottom and open it.

Then insert the phone on top and you have a vertical phone stand!

See the video for more details.

Step 9: Pack It Up

When you are done using it, simply fold the stand in half.
