Introduction: Jasmine Green Tea Infused Vegan Fried Rice
In this cooking hack, we're going to demonstrate how you can brew, fry and infuse your way to a delicious vegan fried rice. The taste and aroma of this recipe will unlock doors to a complete different dimension of the vegan food experience. Oh...and by the way, it's super healthy and full of anti-oxidants.
Step 1: Gather Fresh Ingredients
Before we start, here's what you need:
- 150g (5.3 oz) rice
- 50g (1.8 oz) carrots
- 40g (1.4 oz) cabbage
- 5g (0.17 oz) jasmine tea
- 2 tbs soy sauce
- 2 tbs Chinese rice wine
- 300ml (10.6 oz) water
- 2 tbs of oil
Step 2: Wash & Cook Rice
Wash the plain white rice by soaking it in water and straining it after. Then cook the of 150g (5.3 oz) rice in a rice cooker with 300 ml (10.6 oz) of water. If you don't have a dedicated rice cooker, then cook it in a pan for 30 minutes on low fire.
Step 3: Chop & Brew
Now chop the carrots and cabbage in small pieces. Set them aside and brew 500ml (17 oz) of jasmine tea in a teapot for 5 minutes. Once finished, keep the leaves. Don't discard them, as we'll use them as an ingredient for the fried rice!
Step 4: Fry!
- Warm the pan, and add the 2 table spoons of oil. Then add the chopped cabbage and carrot and fry it for 2 minutes.
- Add the cooked rice in the pan and stir-fry for 1 more minute.
- Now add the soy sauce, Chinese wine, and tea leaves that result from the brew and cook for 2 more minutes on medium fire.
- At last, add 100 ml (3.4 oz) out of the 500 ml (17 oz) of brewed jasmine tea, and fry on hot fire until the tea is complete infused by the rice.
Step 5: Enjoy With Tea
Now serve the fried rice on a plate and enjoy it with the other 400 ml of Jasmine green tea!
