Just Hanging Around, a Day in the Life of an Average Corpse

Yes, I do my part. I compost, recycle and reuse.

My daughter was getting ready for Halloween and had quite a few ideas for decorations. One of many projects she had in mind was a corpse hanging from the tree in her front yard.

So, we raided the recycling and rummaged around the garage. Here is what we used:

• empty plastic milk, water, juice and soda bottles
• duct tape
• black plastic trash bags
• rope

Total cost: $0

Step 1: Construction

We laid all of the pieces out on the floor and used duct tape to connect everything together. No need to be neat about it.

• the head is a milk jug
• the chest is a large water bottle flanked on either side by juice bottles
• the torso is two juice bottles
• each leg is three large aloe juice bottles/bottles of a similar size
• each foot is a soda bottle
• each arm is four small water bottles

Step 2: Wrapping Up

Once the corpse had been formed, we wrapped it in black trash bags. One bag for the head and chest and another for the feet and legs. Then we ripped some bags down each side to make sheets of plastic to cover up the middle and add another layer where needed.

Rope was then tied around the ankles and wound around the body a few times, ending with a nice big knot at the ankles. We left 6-8 feet of rope to tie it to the tree.

It looks heavy, right? Psych!

Step 3: Hanging Around

Finally, we hung the corpse from the tree in my daughter's front yard. I like how one elbow is poking out a bit, like the guy wasn't quite dead when he was tied up.
