Introduction: Korean Drama Inspired Hairpin
Hello everybody this is my first instructable. In this I design a Korean drama inspired hair pin.
I had a piece of jak wood cut off from another project I did before, and I decided to make a hairpin out of it.
Materials used
- Piece of jak wood
- Jigsaw
- Rotary Tool
- Sanding paper
- Water based wood stain
- wood polish
Step 1:
First I cut the piece of wood in the shape of a square and stick with a jigsaw. Then I can draw a design on the square part.
Step 2:
After cutting the shape I scraped off the wood from around the stick part equally from all directions from a cutter so that the stick is coming off right from the middle of the square.
Step 3: Carving
Then I use my rotary tool to carve a simple design on the square part. I use various types and sizes of burrs and sanding drums to carve out the design.
Step 4: Sanding
Then I use the sanding paper going from a high grit value to a lower one. Again rounding off the petals and the leaf as I smoothen it.
Step 5: Dusting
Then I use the brush bit with the rotary tool and take off any dust on the hairpin. Make sure to clean it thourougly otherwise it wood leave bums when polishing.
Step 6: Staining
Then I apply two coats of wood stain to the hairpin and leave it off to dry.
Then I again use the lowest grit sand paper on it. After dusting it off I applied two coats of water based wood stain on it until i get the desired colour.
Step 7: Polishing
After it is dried off I mixed a little amount of wood polish and thinner to a consistency where I can apply it easily without having clumps.
