Introduction: Large Ambrosia Desk

This instructable describes the process for making a large office desk from Ambrosia Maple.

Step 1: Lumber

8/4 Ambrosia Maple

Step 2: Rip

Rip the lumber. This lumber was already jointed and planed on 1 side

Step 3: Join

Use a biscuit joiner to align the 3 pieces of lumber and glue up

Step 4: Surface

Hand plane and rough sand the surface

Step 5: Trim

Trim the ends square

Step 6: Sand

Sand up to 180 grit

Step 7: Chamfer

Chamfer the edge with a router

Step 8: Fill

Fill the beetle holes with wood filler

Step 9: Sand

Sand the wood filler flush

Step 10: Spirit

Use mineral spirits to check for flaws in the sanded surface

Step 11: Finish Sand

Finish sand by hand with 220 grit

Step 12: Oil

Use Danish Oil to pop the grain and let thoroughly dry

Step 13: Topcoat

Topcoat with arm-r-seal

Step 14: Legs

Fasten the legs to the desk underside

Step 15: Inspect

Inspect the finish

Step 16: Enjoy
