Introduction: Laser Cut Ornament
hey! in this instructable I will be telling you how to make laser cut ornaments on autodesk fusion 360. for this, you will need:
- wood
- a laser cutter
- a computer with fusion
- a paper clip
you can make these ornaments to have whatever design you want, so I'll be showing you how to make the ornament itself and the three featured designs on the thumbnail.
Step 1: The Ornament Itself
first, make a circle. I made it to have 4 inches, but you can do whatever you want.
next, make another circle on top of the first one, and a rectangle connecting the two.
clean it up by deleting lines that you won't need. you'll want to do this so that you don't accidentally cut where you don't want to.
Step 2: Mushroom Design
for the base of the mushroom, make a rectangle and then use a sketch fillet on it to round the edges. then make another line on each side and an arc on top, filleting everything you need to.
make a circle in the middle of the top portion and arcs on the side, giving the looks of having dots going all around.
make the eyes with two very thin and tall ellipses.
at this point you can extrude the mushroom 1/3 of the way through if you want to 3d print this, but if you want to laser cut this, you can export the sketch by going to the sketch option on the far left, right clicking the sketch, and choosing "save as DXF".
Step 3: The Zelda Design
this design is really simple. all you do is go to sketch and select inscribed polygon, change the number of sides to three, and line up the circle with the outer circle of the ornament with the right orientation. then, make another one, this time making the circle even with the three edges of the first. make sure that you first do a triangle with a point facing straight up, and one with it facing down.
Step 4: The Smash Logo Design
for this one, you will simply make two rectangles. one vertical on the left and one horizontal in the lower middle the vertical one will be thicker than the horizontal one.
Step 5: Thank You!
thank you for going through this whole thing, I really appreciate it. please vote for me in the holiday decor challenge 2018! see you next time!
