Lasercut Jeep Ornament
Intro: Lasercut Jeep Ornament
Every year I create an ornament for our reps to make and distribute around the holidays at demos and trade shows. This year, one of our customers volunteered to make it for us. Construct A Truck USA is a unique and creative, family-owned company based in Michigan. Their vision: In the heart of the automotive industry--Dearborn, Michigan--comes a new manufacturer. A smaller kind of car company with a big idea: Let youngsters build their own model truck on an assembly line! And in that spirit, they created a small ornament that can be glued together for your tree.
STEP 1: Watch It Being Made
STEP 2: Materials
Wood – any thickness that your laser will cut. We used 1/8” pre-finished alder from Colorado Heirloom
Super Glue or wood glue
2 - #6 x 1/2" pan head sheet metal screws
STEP 3: Laser!
We used a Trotec Speedy 400 120 watt laser for this project.
Laser Settings
Engrave: Power – 100, Speed – 50, Hz – 500, Air Assist – ON
Cut: Power – 100, Speed – 2.10, Hz – 2500
STEP 4: Assembly
1. Glue the three body pieces together first.
2. Attach the wheels with the screws. Alternatively, if you don’t want the wheels to rotate, you can just glue them on as well.
3. Glue the fender pieces on ensuring that they don't rub against the wheels.
STEP 5: Hang It Up
Congratulations, you are now a Junior Truck Maker! Attach a ribbon to the top loop and hang it on your tree. If you get a moment, please take a look at Construct A Truck and some of their amazing trucks they created on their Trotec laser!

Why does everyone temp me so!
I'd love to see my mom shout at me for cutting myself so much trying to carve one of these out of a solid piece.
