Introduction: Map My Home
Board games are always great fun for everyone. But have you ever created your own board game? Welcome to Map My Room, where you can create and play your own board game.
Here's how it works. Both players start with a Master Map, a deck of ROOM cards, and a deck of ITEM cards. Player 1 starts with shuffling the ROOM cards and the ITEM cards. When shuffled, Player 1 hands the cards to Player 2. Player 2 will try to map out the rooms and items blindfolded. For every item that is placed in the correct room, Player 2 earns 1 point. If Player 2 has two rooms that are adjacent on his board and on the Master Map, he/she will also be granted another point. After this, it now Player 1's turn to Map their house. Once both the players have mapped their houses, the round ends and the players calculate their total points. At the end of 5 rounds, the Player with the most points wins.
Now go grab a buddy and enjoy Map My Home!
Supplies
1 Letter size sheet of white paper
1 Letter size sheets of orange paper
2 Letter size sheets of yellow paper
Markers
1 Pencil
A pair of Scissors
Ruler
A buddy (NECESSARY)
Step 1: Outline the Master Map
Create an outline of your Master Map. Outline your rooms as well. Use the image above as a guide.
Step 2: Label Your Rooms
Label your rooms with markers. If you don't have markers, you can use pens or a pencil, but the game looks best with markers.
Step 3: The Finished Product So Far
Use the image above to guide you in labeling your rooms. Of course, you don't HAVE to follow this guide, but I do recommend this if it's your first time creating this game.
Step 4: Cut Out Your ROOM and ITEM Cards
Cut out 23 ROOM cards (2" x 2") and 23 ITEM cards (1" x 1"). I used the yellow sheets of paper for my ROOM cards and the orange sheets of paper for my ITEM cards. Use the images above as a reference to labeling your cards
Step 5: Play (make Sure to Have Fun on This Step)
Congratulations! You've made it this far! This is the end. Now, all you have to do is grab a buddy and start playing.
