Minecraft Pop Tarts

This think geek D.I.Y. Minecraft pop tarts are sure to please and tasty too!

For this recipe you will need the following ingredients;

Pie dough

2 1/2 cups of flour

3/4 cup of vegetable shortening

1 tsp salt

6 tbsp cold water

Choose your favorite jam for filling

Glaze

1 egg white

2 1/2 cups of confectioner's sugar

1 tsp of vanilla

Decoration

black, red, green, brown, blue, orange food dyes and cake gels

Step 1: Making the Pie Crust

In a large bowl mix; flour, shortening, salt and water until the dough becomes soft and non-sticky.

Step 2: Roll Dough

Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper and roll your dough across the cookie sheet with a rolling pin. Then preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Step 3: Cut the Dough

Make 6 rectangle shapes with a butter knife.

Step 4: Spread the Jam

With about 2 tablespoons of your favorite jam, spread evenly in the center of each rectangle/square.

Step 5: Make the Pop Tart

With the rectangles that were not used top the dough spread with jam with the top layer of pie crust. Use a fork to make intentions on the edges and poke the fork through the top layer of the pop tart to make holes.

Step 6: Bake the Pop Tart

Bake the pop tart for 25 - 30 minutes and then let cool completely.

Step 7: Making the Glaze

In a large bowl beat one egg white on high speed for one minute. Slowly add the confectioner's sugar and vanilla.

Step 8: Frost and Design Minecraft Pop Tarts

With a butter knife frost your pop tarts with the glaze and then make your own Minecraft characters with the food dye and cake gels. Serve for breakfast or any other time of day.
