Introduction: Mini Bluetooth Speaker
Out of all the Bluetooth speakers I have seen, I have never seen one that has the circuits on the outside of the Bluetooth speakers. So I decided to make one out of parts I had on hand and I came up with this project. The speaker is from a phone so it probably wont be louder than your phone, but it is good to use on a desk where it doesn't need to be so loud. If you have any questions or tips please leave them in the comments below.
Supplies
Parts Required
- 3.7v Li Ion battery 1x
- Bluetooth module 1x
- Charging module 1x
- Amplifier module 1x
- 10k potentiometer 1x
- 7mmx7mm tactile switch 1x
- Speaker 1x
- 3D printed parts (See step1)
- Wire
Tools Required
- Hot glue gun
- Wire Cutters
- Soldering Iron
- 3D printer
Software Required
- Cura or some other 3D printing software
Step 1: Printing the Parts
Below are the files for the 3D printed parts of the Bluetooth speakers. If you print the black part with the slanted part on the build plate, it will hardly need any support.
Step 2: Installing the Button and the Potentiometer
In this step we will attach the potentiometer and the switch to the main part of the Bluetooth speakers. To install the potentiometer, cut three 4 cm pieces of wire and solider them onto the potentiometer. Then, slide the potentiometer into the hole in the side and use the nuts to secure it in place.
For the switch, cut three 2.5 - 3 cm pieces of wire and solder one onto one lead of the switch and the others onto the other lead of the switch. Then, put the switch in the hole on the top of the frame and thread one of the two wires that are soldered together through the slit in the big side of the frame.
Step 3: Installing the Charging Module
To install the charging module, cut two 4 cm pieces of wire and solder them to the positive output of the charging module and thread one of the wires out the slit on the big side of the frame. Then, solder the wire that is soldered onto the lead of the the switch that doesn't have two wires soldered onto it.
Step 4: Installing the Bluetooth Module
To install the Bluetooth module, put it on the big side of the frame and solder the negative and positive wires to the negative and positive terminals of the Bluetooth module. Then, solder the middle wire of the potentiometer to the R terminal. After that, solder the R and L terminals of the Bluetooth module together.
Step 5: Installing the Amplifier Module
To install the amplifier module solder the remaining positive and negative wires to the positive and negative terminals of the amplifier module. Then, solder the other two wires of the potentiometer to the T and R terminals of the amplifier module.
Step 6: Attaching the Battery
To attach the battery, cut one 5 cm piece of wire and one 8 cm of wire and solder them onto the positive and negative leads of the battery. Then, solder the ends of the wire to the positive and negative input leads of the charging module. Finally, glue the frame of the Bluetooth speakers to the battery as shown.
Step 7: Attaching the Speaker
To attach the speaker, cut two, two cm pieces of wire and solder them to the speaker. Then, solder the ends of the wires to the right channel output of the amplifier module. Finally, glue the speaker to the battery.
Step 8: Attaching the Potentiometer Knob and the Button Top
All you have to do for this step is slide the potentiometer knob onto the potentiometer and the button top on the button. You might have to make the inside of the potentiometer knob or the button to bigger to fit the switch and the potentiometer you are using.
Step 9: Connecting to Your Phone
To connect to your phone push the power button and the light on the Bluetooth module should light up and blink. Then, on your phone go to settings > connections > Bluetooth. Then, search for connections and the name of the Bluetooth module should pop up. Click on that to connect it and if it is the right one the light on the Bluetooth module should stop blinking and it will be connected.
