Introduction: Mini Felt Christmas Tree

About: Hello! I Love making things. I am currently working with micro-bits, tiny origami, and learning Javascript coding. I made my first Instructable in December of 2020, and have made a few more since then!

Remember the last time you saw a Christmas tree? maybe it was tall, made of clay, or just a simple paper tree. Well today you can add one more tree to that list, because I am going to show you how to make a simple felt Christmas tree that you could add to your tree, give as a gift, or keep for yourself! :Dw

Supplies

1. You will need a couple pieces of felt, one for the tree (I would suggest red, brown, or green) and one for the star on top (Yellow or orange works well)

2. A small pin with a flat head (to keep it upright). I used a 2 1/2 centimeter tall pin

3. Scissors

4. And a steady hand!

Step 1: Cutting It Up

To start off, cut a square from the brown felt, about 1 1/2 centimeters long.

(if you want a bigger tree, use this formula; 1.7 x square size = pin size, for example: 1.7 x 3 = 5(ish) it is the same as 1.7 x 1.5 = 2.5(my example)

Then, make another one a tiny bit smaller then the first one, and put it on top of the first one.

Continue making smaller and smaller squares until your stack is as high as your pin is.

Take the yellow felt and cut out a small circle to put on top of the tree as a light.

Step 2: Adding It Together

Next, take the biggest square (the first one you made) and feed it through the pin, making sure the pin is in the middle.

Like weaving beads through a string!

Now repeat until all the squares are on the pin. While you are doing this, make sure to make a pattern, from square, to diagonal, and back to square.

Finally, take the yellow circle from before and stick it onto the pin

You made it!
