Introduction: Maker Safety: No Spill Superglue
Superglue is one of the most important discoveries of the last century. It is amazing at sticking things together, its quick, its strong, it cures with a tight joint, what more could you want.
Well one of the downsides is that to get a long life out of your glue it needs to be stored in the fridge. That's not a problem! However, super glue nearly always lives in the door which normally sees a lot of opening and closing action. The result is that it ends up on its side ad glue always uses out of the bottle into the cap. A very common fault! So frustrated that I need to use maul grips to open my superglue to fix a project I set about finding a solution to the problem.
Voila, a scrap piece of foam has cured my distress, this is how I did it.
Step 1: Collect Your Tools, or Find Something to Hand.
For this fix, I found some second hand foam from my store room, a craft knife, an offending bottle of superglue. A pen is also very useful for marking the bottom of the superglue bottle, its nice to know where to cut.
Step 2: Cut a Well for Your Glue
So I cut a square of foam and then marked up the bottom of the glue container by drawing around the super glue bottle. I then carefully used the craft knife to cut a hole, it doesn't have to be pretty as the foam will expand to grip onto the bottle, which is a desired outcome.
Step 3: Throw It in the Fridge and Be Happy Knowing Its Much Harder to Knock Over.
That;s it you now have a simple and effective solution for the super glue bottle rattling around in the fridge door. No more lids glued shut, access your glue when you want and in an easy manner.
Best of luck and keep gluing.
