Introduction: Old Atlas Origami

About: I'm an avid crafter and love to reuse old items!

I don't know about you, but my family has had an old atlas in the back of our car since the beginning of time and NEVER used it! With Google Maps, nobody needs an old-fashioned atlas or map anymore anyway! This project turns any old map into an amazing work of art. Read on to learn how!

Supplies

Tools:
  • Paper cutter

Supplies:

  • Pages from an old atlas

Step 1: Cut the Atlas Page(s) Into 12 Squares.

This step is fairly straightforward. I suggest 3-inch squares if this is your first time making this project, as they don't require a lot of paper and are easy to fold.

Step 2: Fold One of the Squares in Half.

Step 3: Fold the Top 2 Corners to the Halfway Fold.

Step 4: Flip Over and Fold the Bottom to the Halfway Fold.

Step 5: Flip Over Again, Bring the Bottom Fold to the Middle, and Crease.

Step 6: Fold the Flap Created in Step 5 Up.

Step 7: Flip Over and Fold Corners Down.

Step 8: Fold the Bottom Part Up.

Step 9: Crease As Shown.

Step 10: Repeat Steps 2-9 for Each Square.

Step 11: Slip the 12 Folded Pieces Together As Shown.

Step 12: Enjoy Your Beautiful Work of Art!
