Introduction: Painted Pot

A pot with 3 square sides was painted with the colours of the Rainbow.

Instructions on how to make the pot can be can be found here: Making the Pot (Just leave off one of the sides).

To save money, Only tubes of the 3 primary colours (Red, Blue and Yellow) were purchased. They were blended to make the secondary colours of Green, Purple and Orange.

Step 1: Making Orange

To make orange paint mix some the Red paint with some of the Yellow paint.

Step 2: Colour Blending

Green paint was made by mixing Blue paint with Yellow paint. Purple was made with Red and Blue paint.

The Primary and Secondary coloured paint were painted onto the pot, blending one colour into the edge of the next.

The result of trying to make rainbow paint by mixing in all the paint colours can be seen in the photo above.

Step 3: Testing for Flatness

As the surface of the cube looked a bit wonky, it was tested for flatness, using a straight edge, both horizontally and vertically. The straight edge didn't pick up any curves.

Step 4: Adding a Plant

After the outside of the pot was painted in the colours of the rainbow the inside was painted with some Red and Blue.

After the paint had dried a pot plant was place into the pot.
