Introduction: Paper Maché Skeleton
Materials required:
*aluminum foil
*paper maché (newspaper, flour, water)
*paint (black/brown and white)
*hot glue gun
Step 1: Make Bone Shapes With Aluminum Foil
Looking at images of bones shape the foil into as many pieces as you want to make.
*Use tape to hold together tricky pieces
Step 2: Cover Each Piece With Paper Maché
*Mix water and flour so that mixtures is about the texture of cream
*Rip up the newspaper into long strips about 1 inch wide. (These can always be torn more for small crevices and difficult areas)
*Dip the strips, one at a time and run between your fingers to remove excess liquid
*Apply to your foil bones making sure to smooth out the edges
*Since this is a prop item, only one layer needs to be done.
Step 3: Paint the Bones
*Paint the bones with white paint after the paper maché has dried
*You may want to do an additional layer if any newspaper is still visible through the paint
Step 4: Add Shading
*I mixed white/brown/black paint and lightly brushed it over all the bones to give them an old/dirty look
*You can also add some shading to crevices and edges
Step 5: Glue the Ribs
*Glue the rib cage and sternum together for simplicity
*The rest of the bones don't need to be glued together since bones don't stay together naturally after death
Step 6: Position Your Skeleton
The last thing to do is to set up all of the bones and admire your handiwork!
