Introduction: Introduction to Build
how to build a working computer
Components needed-
- case-Full tower
- power supply
- CPU
- motherboard-Fc Gigabyte
- heatsink
- RAM-DDR3
- Graphics card- we don't have one
- cables(Power,Sata,Fans,Front Panel)
- hard drive/optical drive
- Fans
You would want to build your own computer so that you can customize it with how you want to and also with what you want your computer to be about, like if you want a gaming pc or a PC for working.
Step 1: Putting Together the Motherboard
1. place motherboard on top of the box it came in and have all of its parts around you ready to be put into the motherboard
2.Start with Your CPU which should be a small silver square with pins on the bottom of it, the CPU is near the ram slots the shape should be similar to the square so it shouldn't be hard to find. when putting the CPU in the motherboard it there should be an arrow on the CPU and on the CPU socket showing what direction it should go in. Putting in the CPU shouldn't require any force and should slide straight in, if its not going in without force then you should stop and check to see if you're putting it in right.
3. After you have your CPU plugged in then you're going to apply a tiny dot of thermal paste to the top of it in the center, the thermal paste should come in something that looks like a syringe.
4. After you have applied the thermal paste to the CPU the next step is to put your heat sink on top of it(heatsink should look like a small metal cube with slates with a fan on top). once you've placed it on top then you want to lock it in place with the lock on it.
5. The heatsink should have a wire coming out of it which has a white end that looks like 3 pins can fit into it. the place to plug that in at should be very near where you put the heatsink
6. you're then going to want to insert your RAM which is next to your CPU and should have a notch on it showing what direction you should be putting it in too.
7. attach your speaker which should be along the edge of the motherboard with a lot of pins and it should have a label that says audio which is where you want to plug in your speaker
Step 2: Test Motherboard Out of Case
Your going to want to test your motherboard out of the case to make sure that it works before you put your computer together and find out that something went wrong
1. you need power to use your computer so you're going to want to plug in your power supply(which looks like a giant metal box with a fan in it) there should be a red switch on the back that says 15v and 23v and you want to make sure its on the 15v or it won't work
2. plug it into the motherboard, so youll need the one that has 24 pins for it to connect
3.theres a button on the back of the power supply with a switch that says I and O, to power it on you want it on I
4 use Flathead screwdriver to turn on motherboard in place of power switch by pressing the screwdriver on the two power pins that are labeled on the side of the motherboard that has all the sections of pins
5. if a single beep sounds you are ready to proceed to next step

Step 3: Put in Standoffs
1. find correct positions for standoffs which you can find by putting your motherboard in the case and seeing where the holes on the motherboard line up with
2. screw in standoffs once you've figured out where they need to be put in
3. proceed to next step
Step 4: Put in Case Fan
1. case fan should go in the back by the motherboard in this cut out shape that has like a giant window
2. put in correct way
3. screw in the four corners.
Step 5: Insert Motherboard
1. line up motherboard with standoffs which you should know where they need to go if you followed all of these steps
2. screw in motherboard
3. plug in case fan(should be labeled but if not its a white section of 3 or 4 pins)
Step 6: Put in Power Supply
1. place power supply in correct place and screw it in
2.plug in 24 pin connector, and 4 pin CPU power connector(only 4 connector that looks like 4 little squares would do into
3. plug in USB's and the front panel connectors( front panel is the place with all of the sections of pins sticking up on the side of the motherboard) they should be labeled for you to plug them in
Step 7: Add Hard Drive
1. plug in sata connectors and molex connectors
2. attach hard drive to case(metal rectangle that goes in part of case that looks like a rectangle box with holes in the top) after inserting hard drive make sure to lock it in there
Step 8: Turning on the Computer
1. slide the lid to the case back on it and screw it in
2. plug in power supply in the back with the 3 prongs
3. plug in your VGA or your HDMI so you get video on your pc( VGA looks like a weird shaped wire with some pins in the middle and a screw on both sides.
4 turn on computer
5.Listen for the POST(power on self test) beep to make sure that everything is in working order
6. If you need to change a setting for your graphics or startup settings then press F2 or the key your computer used to enter the BIOS(basic input output system) to adjust those types of settings
7. if you hear repeated beeping then you are probably missing your RAM and should check to make sure its there
Step 9: Being Successful With Your Computer
Following this guide I believe a computer build would be successful with basic knowledge
