Introduction: Pencil Shooter Powered by Rubber Band (Fast!)

Here I made a simple pencil shooter using a rubber band. Here’s how to do it:

Supplies

Colored Pencil

Rubber band (width has to be bigger than pencil’s width)

Scissors

Step 1: Cut Tip Off Pencil

Cut the tip of the colored pencil with scissors. Cut until the bottom of the pencil looks flat.

I do this so that it does not break the rubber band with a sharp tip.

Step 2: Put Pencil Inside Rubber Band

Attach the colored pencil inside the rubber band.

The pencil needs to have some pressure on the rubber band. If it isn’t, It’s too small.

If the pencil doesn’t fit, it’s too big.

If you put the colored pencil in and you see a very white dot near the bottom or top, the rubber band has too much pressure and could break.

It all depends on the type of rubber band.

Step 3: The Pencil Position

Carefully place the bottom of the colored pencil in the middle of the rubber band. You do this so that the pencil doesn’t go backwards.

At the top of the pencil, move the rubber band a bit to the left so one side of the pencil is revealed more than the other.

Then turn the pencil 90 degrees to the right. The revealed side should be facing up.

Step 4: Firing

To fire, pull both sides of the rubber band at the same time. Make sure your pulling in the middle of the band. (Maybe a tiny tiny bit higher but that’s it)

The top of the colored pencil will slip off causing the pencil to go flying fast.

Its not as accurate, as it will hit higher than you wanted to hit, but it’s alright.

And that’s it!
