Introduction: Photography Light Box Tent

If you are an enthusiast photographer, you probably have

tried couple of lightning techniques before. One of the most common tools that product photographers use is the photography tent which we will make in this project.

For the 2D-design we will be using Inkscape because it’s free and easy to use software (you can download it from: https://inkscape.org/en/ ). We will also use BoxMaker (http://boxmaker.connectionlab.org/) to design our tent box. Then we will cut the parts using CNC machine (we used MDF wood)

Note: This project was made by (Jafar Alobaid ) in FAB LAB Dhahran

Step 1: Requirements

• MDF wood (Thickness 12mm)

• Vinyl paper

• Duct and black tape

• 3 natural daylight led bulbs ( or any alternative)

• paper scalpel or craft knife

• Tracing paper

You'll also need:

CNC machine.

Step 2: Making the Box

So, for this step we will make a 50 X 50 cm box using
box maker. We will adjust the faces of the box so that each one will become a frame except the one that will be in the back (Background) and ground one as well.

Note: we used 12mm MDF wood. Just make sure to adjust the material thickness according to what you will use.

After makingthe box we will use inkscape to edit it. So, it will look like this

Step 3: Step 3: Making the Lights’ Arms:

There are couple of different ways to design the arms. But we will go with the easiest and the most practical. we have attached the designs and the dimensions with this step.

Step 4: Wiring the Light Bulbs

You can just wire it just like what we did in the pictures.

Note: the current we have is DC. Just make sure to know the difference between the AC current and the DC current.

Note: we wired each light bulb alone. they are not connected in one wire. it's up to you if you like to connect them all in one single wire or make them separate.

Step 5: Testing the Product

Here is the final product with some results.

Note: The sunglasses photo was taken by iPhone 5 camera.
