Introduction: Physics Marble Cannon

Material

Wood

  • 2 - 19 in 2x4
  • 2 - 15 in 2x4
  • 1 - 16 in 2x4
  • 2 - trapezoids cut with 45 degree angle; Top: 6 in, Bottom: 13.5 in
  • 2 - 10 in 2x4

Other

  • 2 eye bolts
  • 2 hose clamps
  • 1 - 3/4 in tube strap
  • 1 - 1 in tube strap
  • 1 - 1 in PVC pipe
  • 1 - 3/4 in PVC pipe
  • 1 bolt
  • 3 knuts
  • 2 large springs
  • 3/4 in dal rod

Step 1:

Screw 15 in 2x4 to outside of 19 in 2x4 vertically

Step 2:

Screw 16 in 2x4 on top of the frame from step 1

Step 3:

Screw trapezoid 2x4s into the inside of the frame, against the 15 in 2x4

Step 4:

Use 2 - 3/4 in tube straps to fasten 3/4 in pipe to the top of the 16 in 2x4, loosely to allow some movement

Step 5:

Then use 1 in tube strap to fasten the 1 in pipe on top of the 3/4 in pipe

Step 6:

Attach hose clamp to the 1 in pipe, inserting the two eyebolts on the sides then tighten

Step 7:

Attach one spring to each eyebolt

Step 8:

Drill a hole in through the side at the bottom of the dal rod

Step 9:

Insert the bolt through spring hole and dal rod hole

Step 10:

Attach bolts tightly to secure spring loops

Step 11: All Done

Just make sure everything is tight on the springs and it is loose on the top where the pipes touch so that it moves to the angle you need.

Step 12: Calculations
