Introduction: Ping Pong Trophy

About: Our grandkids keep me busy!

Following in the footsteps (and reasoning) of "Best Dressed Leprechaun Trophy" (https://www.instructables.com/id/Best-Dressed-Leprechaun-Trophy/), have you ever found yourself in need of a ping pong trophy? No? Well yet again, me neither. However, my wife needed one for a company party, so she sent me a design, and gave me a few hours to design and print her "Ping Pong Trophy". The trophy is designed for small spaces with a height of 162mm and base diameter of 68mm.

And for anyone, anyone at all, who's interested in how I designed Ping Pong Trophy, I've included the file "Ping Pong Trophy.f3d", the Autodesk Fusion 360 file that shows you how I stumbled through the steps to create this model. Simply place this file in a convenient location on your computer (e.g. the desktop), then click on the Autodesk Fusion 360 file icon (not the file menu, just the icon), select "New Design from File", navigate to the file location, then select it.

Designed using Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced using Cura 3.4.1, and printed in Ultimaker Red, Pearl White and Black PLA on an Ultimaker 2+ Extended and an Ultimaker 3 Extended.

Step 1:

Step 2: Print and Assemble the Parts.

The print and assembly process is fairly straightforward so I've included all instructions in this step.

I printed all parts at .15mm layer height, 20% infill and no supports.

I printed two "Ball Half.stl", two "Paddle Face.stl" and one each of "Paddle Handle.stl", "Paddle Center.stl" and "Base.stl".

Once printed, I glued the two "Paddle Face.stl" to "Paddle Center.stl" using eight small dots of thick cyanoacrylate glue on the flat side of each of the paddle faces. When the glue dried, I glued the assembly into "Paddle Handle.stl" using two small dots of glue. While waiting for the glue to dry, I glued the two "Ball Half.stl" together using four small dots of glue. And when the completed ball has dried, I glued the ball to the paddle face with a large dot of glue, then glued the paddle handle into the hole in "Base.stl" with two small dots of glue.

That's how I printed and assembled Ping Pong Trophy, hope she likes it!
