Introduction: Plastic Cup Lamp Shade
This is a simple, inexpensive project that is fun and quick. The outcome is an unique and abstract looking lamp shade to replace a lost, old or broken one.
Step 1: Gather Materials
- 80 pack of 9oz. plastic cups
- Glue gun
- 4+ glue sticks
- Lamp with metal bracket around bulb
After warming up the glue gun, hold one cup on its side and place two dime size amounts of glue parallel to each other at the ends.
Step 2:
Get two more cups and stick one on each side, hold them together for about 10 seconds to allow adequate drying.
Step 3:
Continue to glue cups together aligning them to arch. You have completed the base when your outcome is a full circle.
Step 4:
After the base is completed take another cup and glue it on its side so it will be lying down on top of the base, this will be the beginning of creating your layers. It should look like this:
Step 5:
Continue gluing cups together to build more layers. You will begin to notice the taller your lamp shade becomes, the less cups you need for each layer. You know you are done when no more layers can be created because a dome has formed. This is your finished product.
Step 6:
After letting it dry completely for another 10 minutes, place your lamp shade on your chosen lamp. Plug your lamp in and you’re done!
