Introduction: Polymer Clay Journal Cover

Making a journal/diary cover with polymer clay and creating watercolor effect with alcohol based marker.

Step 1:

Materials used in this project:

- Notebook with hard cover

- Acrylic paint

- Polymer clay (Fimo soft)

- Alcohol based marker

- Alcohol

- Brush with reservoir

- Epoxy glue

- Fabric ribbon

- Varnish (Optional)

Step 2:

Paint the cover of the notebook with acrylic paint

Step 3:

Make a plaque with polymer clay a little smaller than the notebook cover

Step 4:

Make a frame and decorate the exterior

Create the clock inside the frame

Step 5:

Making the doll to sit in the clock hand.

Bake it in the oven during 30 minutes at 110°C/230°F

Step 6:

After baking, paint a plastic surface (can be glass or metal surface too) with the alcohol based marker and dilute the color with the the brush.

This brush contains a reservoir filled with alcohol.

When painting in the polymer clay it will create a watercolor (aquarelle) effect.

If you don't have a brush with reservoir, you can use a normal brush and soak it in the alcohol.

The more alcohol we use, more diluted will be the color.

Less alcohol means more concentrated color.

Step 7:

Envolve cotton in a toothpick and soak it in alcohol to make little dots in the doll dress

Step 8:

With the marker paint the doll cheeks and Smooth it with alcohol

Step 9:

Use a fabric ribbon to close the journal and glue it in the front of the notebook.

Apply more epoxy glue and place the polymer clay cover

You can apply varnish (optional)
