This instructable will teach you how to make the Projeti. The Projeti is a high performance paper airplane. It is launched in such a way that it rockets up to around 30' above the ground and then slowly glides down. The Projeti has gone through three different designs: Projeti 1: The first Projeti. very good when folded right, bad when folded wrong. Easy to fold, but hard to fold right. Projeti 2: The second design revision of the Projeti. It had an excellent glide ratio, but lacked the ability to fly really high. Projeti 3: The third and (as far as I know) final revision of the Projeti. This glider combines a slow flying speed with extreme stability and high flying capabilities. The Projeti 3 is the one you will be folding. The Projeti has a special wing shape. This wing shape was used in all three Projetis, and is called a "Polyhedral." It makes the plane so stable and self-correcting that you could launch it upside down, and it would right itself and fly on. The Projeti is a great paper plane but first you should read this DISCLAIMER: The name "Projeti" is not of my own design. The name "Projeti" is used by Icare Sailplanes and Electrics, an RC plane company, to name one of their flying-wing rc plane designs. This paper airplane has nothing in common with the Projeti RC plane. So, without further hesitation, let's get folding--and flying

Step 1: Fold in Half.

Fold paper in half widthwise, then unfold.

Step 2: Folding the Polyhedral.

This part is easier than the title suggests. Fold the left and right edges in so that they meet the center crease, then unfold.

Step 3: Six Folds.

Fold the nose over about 1cm. six times, as shown in the pictures.

Step 4: Refolding the Polyhedral.

You may notice that although the creases for the polyhedral are there, the folded nose section does not have the polyhedral folded in yet. You must now fold the polyhedral into the nose along the polyhedral creases in the rest of the wing.

Step 5: Cutting the Scoop.

For this step you will need SCISSORS. You will fold the Projeti in half and cut a small cut about 1 inch from the back of the wing. You will then unfold the plane and fold out the scoop. Do all this as shown in the pictures.

Step 6: Learning to Fly.

Congratulations! You have now completed assembly and preparation of your Projeti high-performance aircraft. You will now learn how to: Launch the Projeti into level flight, launch the Projeti high into the air and watch it glide down, Tailwind soar, and eat cake. (Just kidding about the cake). to LEVEL LAUNCH your Projeti, grasp the aircraft as shown in the first photo, hold it above your head, and gently throw it forward. Your Projeti should now glide smoothly forward. In the event that it does not glide smoothly, fold the nose over one time. If your Projeti nosedives, undo one of the noseweight folds. to HIGH-LAUNCH your Projeti, grasp and hold the Projeti as shown in the second photo and throw your Projeti rapidly upward. Make sure to follow the aircraft with your eyes. (Don't look at the sun). to TAILWIND SOAR your Projeti is one of the most interesting things you can do with it. You may have noticed that when you high launch your Projeti, it flies in the direction of the wind. Tailwind soaring is the practice of exploiting wind currents to maximize airtime and distance covered. To tailwind soar, simply launch your Projeti upwind. there are two wind directions: upwind and downwind. You will launch your Projeti upwind. This means launching it so that it flies with the wind. The wind will effectively push the Projeti through the air at higher speed so that it flies farther. Well, that's your flying lesson. Good luck and fun flying!
