Introduction: Quick and Easy InstaMorph Knobs

When making a jig or a fixture, it's nice to have a knob on nut or bolt to be able to tighten things down without reaching for a wrench.

Again, InstaMorph to the rescue!

Instructables sponsored a Build Night at Urban Workshop, and supplied us with InstaMorph to play with -- this is one of the ideas we came up with ;-)

Step 1: Supplies

  • InstaMorph
  • Nuts or bolts to fit

Step 2:

  1. Following the directions on the package, melt the InstaMorph in hot water.
  2. Form a ball of InstaMorph, roughly twice the diameter of the head of the bolt.
  3. Press the head of the bolt into the ball, then shape the InstaMorph into two or more wings. Also press some of the plastic over the head of the bolt to lock it into place.
  4. Wait until the InstaMorph has cooled before using.
