EN - On this page you will find the procedure for allowing water to enter the Bosch dishwasher, model SL15N1B. This "Intructable" probably works for other models and other brands.

The problem: When the dishwasher starts up, after a short drain cycle, the water takes longer and longer to arrive and therefore the cycle takes longer to start. After a few days / weeks, the dishwasher fails to supply water ("tap" LED on). When you open the dishwasher door, there is no water inside.

FR - Sur cette page vous trouverez la procédure à suivre pour permettre à l’eau de pénétrer dans le lave vaisselle Bosch, modèle SL15N1B. Cette procédure de réparation est probablement exactement la même pour d'autres modèles ou d'autres marques.

Le problème : Au démarrage du lave vaisselle, après un court cycle de vidange, l’eau met de plus en plus de temps à arriver et donc le cycle met plus de temps pour démarrer. Au bout de quelques jours/semaines, le lave vaisselle se met en défaut d’arrivé d’eau (led « robinet » allumée) Lorsque vous ouvrez la porte du lave vaisselle il n’y a pas d’eau à l’intérieur.

Step 1: Remove the Top Cover

EN - Take the dishwasher out of its housing. Disconnect the power supply, the water supply and the drain hose. Scoop out as much water as possible by opening the sieve (= the basket at the bottom of the dishwasher).On the back of the device, remove the locking screw in the center. On the front face, push the 2 right and left clips with a large screwdriver in order to release the dishwasher's top cover upwards. Take the baskets out of the dishwasher.

FR - Sortir le lave vaisselle de son logement. Débrancher l’alimentation électrique, l’arrivée d’eau et le tuyau d’évacuation. Écoper le plus d’eau possible en ouvrant le crible (= le panier au fond du lave vaisselle). Au dos de l’appareil, retirer la vis de verrouillage au centre. En face avant, pousser sur les 2 clips droit et gauche avec un gros tournevis afin de déboîter le plateau du lave-vaisselle vers le haut. Sortir les paniers du lave vaisselle

Step 2: Remove the Left Cover

  • Photo 1: Remove the rear locking screw
  • Photo 2: Remove the 2 screws on the front panel. To avoid damaging the seal, you can slide it upwards
  • Photo 3: Take the panel out of the rear lug, at the bottom back corner
  • Photo 4: Then lift the panel upwards and let it aside

  • Photo 1 : Retirer la vis de blocage arrière
  • Photo 2 : Retirer les 2 vis en face avant. Pour ne pas abîmer le joint, vous pouvez le coulisser vers le haut
  • Photo 3 : Sortir le panneau de l’ergot arrière, en bas de la tôle blanche à l’angle
  • Photo 4 : Puis soulever le panneau vers le haut et le mettre de côté

Step 3: Localise the Problem

EN - Preliminary: Disassemble the water inlet pipe A. Put the pipe in a bucket and start the cycle:

  • If the water does not come, it is probably your Aquastop or your flowmeter that is clogged or out of order
  • If the water arrives normally through pipe A then it may be floater B which is blocked in the high position. The air therefore cannot escape to the drain pipe (blue arrows) and therefore the water enters the tank too slowly or stop entering after few second when the tank pressure is too high. In normal operation the tank fills up very quickly.

FR - Préliminaire : Démonter le tuyaux d’arrivé d’eau A. Mettre le tuyaux dans un seau et démarrer le cycle :

  • Si l’eau ne vient pas c’est probablement votre Aquastop ou votre débimètre qui est encrassé ou HS
  • Si l’eau arrive normalement par le tuyaux A alors c’est peut-être le flotteur B qui est bloquée en position haute. L’air ne peut donc pas s’échapper vers le tuyaux de vidange (flèches bleues) et donc l’eau rentre trop lentement dans le réservoir ou bien arrête d'entrer après quelques secondes quand la pression dans le réservoir est trop grande. En fonctionnement normal le réservoir se remplit très rapidement.

Step 4: Dismount the Tank to Access the Floater

EN - To dismantle the tank, remove the water inlet A and release D by removing the central white triangle. Unscrew the water inlet E inside the dishwasher. Attention, plastic part, to unscrew with care! Remove the tank by pulling it up. No need to disassemble C

FR - Pour démonter le réservoir, retirez l’arrivé d’eau A et déboiter D en enlevant le triangle blanc centrale. Dévisser l’arrivée d’eau E à l’intérieur du lave vaisselle. Attention, pièce en plastique, à dévisser avec prudence ! Retirez le réservoir en le tirant vers le haute. Inutile de démonter C.

Step 5: By the Way, Make 2 Other Controls...

EN - Since we are there, remove the 2 screws from the solenoid valve and remove the solenoid valve to check that it is not clogged. Mount it back immediately after. When the tank is removed, check that the hole opening into the dishwasher tank (red circle at the top right) is clear by inserting a thick wire, for example.

FR - Puisque l’on y est, retirez les 2 vis de l’électrovanne et retirez l’électrovanne pour vérifier qu’elle n’est pas encrassée. Remonter là immédiatement après. Lorsque le réservoir est retiré vérifiez que le trou débouchant dans le cuve du lave vaisselle (cercle rouge en haut à droite) est bien dégagé en y insérant un fil de fer épais par exemple.

Step 6: Cleanup the Floater to Allow It to Freely Move and Down

EN - We see here the black floater (red frame) which must be able to move up and down freely (white arrows). To scrub it and clean the yellow area, I used DesTop for WC. Leave on for 1 hour, shaking occasionally with caution. Warning: rinse well several times before reassembling and run a complete high temperature cycle without dishes before using it again !

FR - On voit ici la masselotte noir (cadre rouge) qui doit pouvoir monter et descendre librement (flèches blanches). Pour la décrasser et nettoyer la zone jaune, j’ai utilisé du DesTop pour WC. Laisser agir pendant 1 heure en secouant de temps en temps avec prudence. Attention: bien rincer plusieurs fois avant remontage et faire un cycle complet haute température sans vaisselle avant de s’en resservir !

Step 7: Remount the Tank and the Dishwasher

EN - We can now proceed to reassemble the dishwasher by following my tutorial in reverse. And now you have extended the lifetime of your dishwasher by a few years :-)
