Introduction: Road Cone Art
I am helping a friend make over her room. The challenge is that she loves traffic cones and I want to help bring some girly charm to her room, while using traffic cones! This is the first project. There will be more to come.
This super easy instructable shows you how to use duct tape, paint and canvas to create a one of a kind art piece!
Step 1: Supplies
For this project you will need:
Artist' canvas (any size you want )
Construction Paper (any color),
Scissors,
Pencil,
Straight Edge,
Hot Glue,
Neon Orange duct tape,
Silver duct tape or silver sparkle tape
Yellow electrical tape,
White and black paint,
paintbrush.
Step 2: Getting Ready
Start by drawing out your template for your cone. Make it shorter than your canvas of course, and try to make it half as wide as the canvas.
Fold a piece of construction paper in half lengthwise and sketch out half a cone shape with your straight edge.
Cut that out and trace the template onto two other pieces of construction paper and cut those out.
Arrange your cones on the canvas to get an idea of how well they fit and how you will arrange them.
Step 3: Apply Duct Tape
The next step is to apply your orange duct tape. Simply, tear off strips, apply to the front and wrap the end pieces around to the back. When you come to an inside corner, make slits at the corner and fold down flat on the back side as shown.
Step 4: Sparkly Tape
Add some lengths of glittery and silver tape across your canvas any way you like.
Add a silver tape strip or two across the front of your cone as well. Wrap the ends around to the back.
Step 5: Hot Glue and Finish
Hot Glue the cones on your canvas in what ever layout you choose.
I also added a strip of yellow electrical tape a cross the front and painted black dashes on it for "caution tape."
Step 6: Paint Words or Leave As Is
You can paint a cute saying on the canvas or just leave it as it sits.
The one here says " The road to success is always under construction."
