Introduction: SUNBUDDY Sunscreen Reminder

Everyone forgets to put sunscreen on and reapply after a couple hours! The SUNBUDDY is a solution to these problems. Plus, it’s super versatile so you can easily take it with you to all your outdoor activities.

Supplies

MATERIALS:
- circuit playground and battery pack
- foam sheets
- felt/flannel sheets
- pillow stuffing
- velcro strips
- large straw
- 2 pipe cleaners

TOOLS:
- hot glue gun
- scissors
- computer with circuit playground connector

Step 1: Create and Download Code to Playground

Adjust the time to your liking. There should be reapplication timer for about 2 hours and the add time button is up to you. Don’t forget the time is in milliseconds! Use a converter if you need.

Feel free to play around with the sounds and light schemes as well!

Don’t forget to download your code and test it out when you’re all finished.

Step 2: Prepare Your Materials

Use the scissors to cut the foam and felt into the shapes shown. You’ll need a felt and foam pouch, two buttons, three indicators, and a fourth indicator for the “SUNBUDDY” title.

Gather an handful of pillow stuffing and start heating the hot glue gun

Step 3: Put Together the Foam Casing

Using the hot glue, put together the foam case. Add some stuffing, then the playground and battery pack, followed by more stuffing. Glue the foam case shut. Use the scissors to cut out a circle around the playground so it’s visible.

Step 4: Build Felt Case, Add Labels, and Decorate!

Cut out and use hot glue to put a felt casing over the top of the foam one. Leave a tail that can be folded over the back.

Using the hot glue, apply the labels in their appropriate locations. Add some decorative shapes (sun rays) if you like!

Step 5: Make It Versitile

Using the hot glue, apply the Velcro strips to the back of the case and the tail. Use the hot glue to apply the straw and thread the pipe cleaners through it.
