Introduction: Skittles Vodka Gummi Bears!

Now, before I start this Instructable (my first!), I have some sources to cite. First, I made skittles vodka or "Love Potions" as Grymee (https://www.instructables.com/member/Grymee/ ) calls it. Here is Grymee's guide https://www.instructables.com/id/Love-Potions/ .
And this guide is almost a copy of courtnix's (https://www.instructables.com/member/courtnix/ ) Instructable. You can find it here https://www.instructables.com/id/Drunken-Gummies-Vodka-Infused-Gummi-Bears/ .

Now that that's out the way, lets begin!

Step 1: Skittles Vodka

For the skittles vodka you will need :

skittles (duh) not pictured

vodka (duh) people recommend using at least a decent quality vodka, but forever a rebel, I used the cheapest one in the supermarket.

a bottle in which the vodka will dissolve the skittles

some sort of fine filter (I used coffee filters) to filter the vodka once the skittles are absorbed

a container (like a jug or bottle) to store the vodka once you've filtered it

Ok, as I said, Grymee has a much better and more in-depth guide to this, but for our purpose, we only really need to do it roughly.

First, separate the skittles by colour. You'll probably need quite a lot. I did roughly a quarter of the bottle was full of skittles, then obviously fill it with vodka.

You leave this for about 24 hours, giving it a good hard shake every so often.

Now, you'll be left with a nicely coloured vodka with a foam-like substance at the top.

Now, you don't want a scoop of that in your gummis, so this is why we need to filter it. As you can see in the picture, i put my filter into a funnel, funnelling into a jug. You may need to filter it a few times to get all the gunk off. This can take a while, but for what we are using the skittles vodka for, you don't need to worry too much about how well you filter it.

Once you get it all filtered, we can move on to the gummi section!

Step 2: Gummi Bears!!

For this step, you will need:

Gummi bears

your newly made skittles vodka

some sort of container, I used a tupperware tub

Ok, as before, courtnix's guide is where I draw inspiration from, with only a few minor changes.

All you really do, is stick the gummis in a tub and then cover them with you skittles vodka! Nothing else to it really. As courtnix told us to, I think we should leave it for about a week. I've seen other guides that say an hour will do it, but I'm a bit skeptical about that.

Now, courtnix tells us to add some juice after a while, but as we're using skittles vodka, we can miss out the juice if we want.

Give the gummis a stir every so often so they don't stick to the sides of the tub (they are sticky enough alone, never mind when in a tub of super sticky skittles vodka).

I also thought I'd add in to this step here, that you can make alcoholic gummis with any other spirit (so i'm told anyway) but I'm not sure if you can infuse skittles with any other spirit, but hey, I'm sure someone out there will give it a try! Just let me know any results :P

Oh also, for cheapskates like myself out there, this only seems to work with "gummi" products. Things with the exact same consistency and density of gummi bears. I tried this with really cheap tesco sweeties called Midget Gems, and they did absorb the alcohol, but they were disgusting and turned to mush as soon as you bit into them.

Step 3: Your Wonderful Creations!

As you can see in the pictures here, the gummis have grown in size by a fair bit!

Remember in the last step I said we could do without the juice? Well, it turns out the gummis were a lot more potent than I thought! They tasted pretty good, but they'd be a bit strong for some others I imagine, so I recommend giving them a taste test after a while to see if you want to add some juice to them.

Now all thats left to do with them, is EAT THEM! They go down a treat, and they're great for events where you weren't planning on bringing a bag full of heavy booze bottles. I'm a student, this happens alot :P

Hope you all enjoyed my first instructable!
