Introduction: Square Knot Beaded Bracelet

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

I was watching Ingrid Nilsen's video on how to make wrap bracelets, and when I saw the square knot version with beads, I knew I had to try it for myself!

Step 1: Materials List

Here's what you will need to make it:

  • thin cording
  • beads
  • scissors
  • tape
  • jewelry closures

Step 2: Prep Cord

First, cut off 4 pieces of thin cord and, on the top, tie a small knot.

Step 3: Tape It Down

Then, use tape to attach the top of the knot down on a hard surface, like your desk.

Step 4: Add Beads

From there, string some beads on the two middle pieces of cord, and you're ready to practice the square knot!

Step 5: Make Bracelet

To make the bracelet, first push a bead towards the top. Then, grab the cord from the left and swing it over in the shape of a backwards style 4. Then, grab the outer right cord and thread that under the two middle cords and left cord, and pull tight.

Then, do the same thing on the other side. Push a bead to the top, swing the right outer cord in the shape of a right side 4, thread the left outer cord through the other three cords, and pull tight.

Continue this pattern until you're satisfied with how long you want your bracelet to be!

Step 6: Finish Off

To finish off, tie the end of the bracelet closed. Then, take the jewelry closures, and thread it through the holes and tie them off. Now, they're ready to wear!

Step 7: Done!

Besides the dark pink bracelet with silver and gold beads, I also made a light pink bracelet with black beads, and one made with silky cord and pony beads! They make great gifts for women and girls, both young and old and are the ultimate fashion statement for spring and summer! Also, it doesn't have to be worn as a bracelet. You can also make one into an anklet, if you prefer! Just make the length a little bit longer so that it fits around your foot, above your ankle. Perfect!
