Intro: Stovetop Fire Blanket

This device is capable of spinning a fire blanket out of its secured location to deploy over a stovetop. This is more of a prototype to the real project.

STEP 1: 3-D Print Bowl

This bowl is printed with a 5 & 3/4 inch diameter, and is 3 & 1/2 inches tall. The center pole in the middle of the bowl is where we inserted the electric motor.

STEP 2: Fire Blanket

We ordered a cheap fire blanket from amazon.com, of 36" by 36," and we cut it it using a soldering iron and a box cutter to a sizeable 15" by 15" to comfortably cover a stove top without hitting the wall. We covered the sides we cut out with duct tape for this project, as it was a test.

We also added 4 one ounce teardrop fishing weights to the corners of the fire blanket using zip ties.

STEP 3: Electric Motor

Using a hot glue gun and a soldering iron, we attached a small electric motor to the inner pole of the 3-D printed bowl, attaching the motor to the bowl firmly.

STEP 4: That's It!
