Introduction: Summer Dessert Pizza

About: A foodie, former chef, lover of wine and the great outdoors. On my journey to eat healthier, live better and start my entrepreneurial venture.

Not your typical pizza. it's a sweet version of a pizza. It has the typical pizza base, "sauce" and toppings. The crust in this case is a sweet crust with a cream cheese topping and finished off with fresh fruits. Perfect for hot weather and enjoyed as a dessert pizza after your savory one.

Step 1: Crust Ingredients

8 tablespoons butter, softened

1 cup all purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 egg yolk

Step 2: For the "Sauce"

8 oz cream cheese (1 Packet)

3 tablespoons heavy cream

1 tablespoon lemon zest

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

6 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 cup fruit or berries of choice for topping

Few mint sprigs for garnish

Step 3: The Crust Step 1

In a large bowl or in a mixer, using the paddle attachment, cream the butter, sugar, egg yolk, lemon zest and lemon zest.

Step 4: Crust Step 2

To the creamed mixture add in the flour. The mixture will look like pebbles.

Step 5: Crust Step 3

Using your hand bring the dough together and form a ball.

Step 6: Crust Step 4

Flatten the crust into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap and store in the freezer for 1 hour.

Step 7: Shape the Crust

Take the dough out of the freezer. Shape the crust into a 9 inch pie pan or tart pan. Use a fork to dock the crust.

Put the crust into the freezer for 30 minutes. In the meantime set the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 8: Bake It!

After 30 minutes take the crust from the freezer into the oven in the middle rack. Bake for 25 mins. Set on a cooling rack to cool completely.

Step 9: The Sauce

In a large bowl, using a whisk or even a paddle in your mixer, whisk all the sauce ingredients together.

Step 10: Cheese Sauce

The mixture should be light, fluffy and creamy. Set aside.

Step 11: Build It

To build your dessert pizza, spread the cream cheese topping then use the fruit of choice on top. In this case I used blueberries, strawberries and kiwi.
