These fun superhero's shoot off like rockets to go and save the day!

How does it work?
When you glue the edges of your character and leave the bottom unglued you create a small pocket. Then, the straw is inserted and you blow on the other end. The air pressure from your lungs forces it's way up into that small pocket and launches it into the air.
This is a common method of launching for small hobby rockets with air pumps.

Supplies

  • Print out of the Superhero Flyers PDF attached to this instructable
  • Markers, color pencils, or crayons to design your superhero
  • Glue stick or regular liquid white glue
  • Scissors
  • Straw (bendy straws make this easier and more fun to watch)

Step 1: Cut Out Superhero Front & Back

With the scissors, cut out one front and one back side of the superhero. The one with the arms that appear in front is actually meant to be the back in a classic flying superhero pose.

(There is a backup set on your sheet in case you make an accident or want to make a superhero duo.)

Step 2: Design Your Superhero

Draw and color your character.
They can be whatever you want!
Think about what's important to you, what your superhero name would be, and what your favorite colors are.

We decided to go with a gear as our emblem because we are a Maker Studio.

Step 3: Glue Edges of Front & Back

Using rthe glue put some on just the top and side edges of your superhero. You want to leave the very bottom at the feet clean from any glue as well as the inside. This is going to create a small pocket area for the straw once it's dry.

Step 4: Insert the Straw

When it is all dry carefully insert the straw at the bottom, then blow into the other end of the straw.

Your superhero will go flying to the rescue to your city below.
