Introduction: Tangram -easy to Make Paper Puzzle

A tangram is a seven piece puzzle.  All seven pieces must be used to build a square.  It seems very easy, but is a tricky puzzle.  Tangram pieces can also be used to create images of other things, such as rockets, dogs, just search “tangram puzzle” and thousands of ideas will pop up.  The pieces are fun to use while telling or making up a story.


Supplies

one sheet of paper or cardstock

scissors

Step 1: Make a Square

Position the paper in landscape mode, bring the upper left corner to bottom edge, crease.

Cut off the rectangle ( save for bookmarker or other project)



Step 2: Two Large Triangles

Unfold paper and cut on crease. You now have two large triangle that are the same size

Step 3: Three Triangles

Fold ONE triangle in half, cut on crease. Set aside the triangles that you just cut. You will not cut these piece again

Step 4: Another Triangle

Fold point to base, cut on crease, set aside. You will not cut this piece again

Step 5: "shoe Shapes"

Fold in half, cut on crease, you now have two "shoe shapes"

Step 6: Small Square and Triangle

On ONE shoe, fold the toe to the heel, cut on crease. You now have a square and small triangle, set aside you will not cut these pieces again

Step 7: Parallelogram and Triangle

Fold heel to bow, cut on crease. You now have a parallelogram and another small triangle

Step 8: Time to Solve

Scramble the seven pieces. to solve the puzzle use all seven pieces to make a large square

Step 9: Solution

Puzzle solution. It seems like a simple puzzle, but it is tricky.
