Introduction: Tank Top Into Bag

Have a tank top or shirt you no longer wear, but want to reuse in some way? Follow these easy steps to create a reusable bag.

Step 1: Gather Materials

For this project, you will need a shirt or tank top that you no longer want to wear, scissors, a needle, and thread.

Step 2: Prepare Straps for Bag

If you've chosen a tank top, this step is probably unnecessary, but if you are using a T-shirt, you will need to cut off the sleeves of the shirt. Depending on what size you would like the straps of the bag to be, you may need to trim the neckline of the shirt. The thinner you want your straps, the more you will need to cut away from the neckline.

Step 3: Getting Ready to Sew

Turn the shirt or tank top inside out, and line up the side seams, so that the part of the shirt that would normally be on the side of your body is lined up in the middle of the shirt.

Step 4: Sew the Bottom Closed

Once you have the bottom of the shirt lined up, sew the ends together, starting at one end, and continuing to the other end. Make sure to keep your stitches tight, so things won't fall out the bottom!

Step 5: Enjoy the Finished Product

Once you've sewed the entire bottom of the shirt closed, turn the shirt right side out again. You will now have a reusable bag!
