Introduction: Texas Hold Em

About: Visit My Blog
texas hold em is basically an advanced form of five card poker...i will show you how i learned to play this game. pictures are a tab bit blurry but you can tell what they are...

Step 1: The Deck

this is the deck...duh..typically in texas hold em one person is nominated as the dealer...but before you can deal you have to meet the blind..in this example we set the blind at 3 chips. the blind is basically an opening wager that all player must be able to meet...or they are out

2. in this picture you can see three chips have been added to the pot...the cost is split between the players...in this case one player payed 1 the other payed 2...btw the pot is basically the storage area for all the wagered chips

Step 2: Deal

Once the the blind has been met the cards may now be dealt. each player only recieve two cards. the cards flipped over are our cards and the cards turned down are the opponents cards. depending on how good you think you hand is. you may want to bet more chips.

2 the opponent decides that he has a good hand and is raising us by 1 chip. he added two because he only payed i on the blind while we payed two

3. we have no choice but to either fold or bet the 1 chip. for this sake we just bet the one chip

Step 3: Play

now that the betting is all taken care of...we can now play the other cards. the dealer deals the first 3 cards on the deck. the objective is to get the best hand using the 2 cards you have and the 5 cards in the hole. right now our chances arent looking that good but we will continue.

2. now since noone choose to raise, we deal another card into the hole. our chances are looking a bit brighter.

3 the opponent just raised us by 2 chips...for sake of tis instructable we will call it. (usually by this point i would have folded)

4 we call the bet and add in 2 more chips

5 with the flip of the final card the opponent goes all in ( all in refers to betting all of the chips you currently have)\

6 we are going to call all in as well

Step 4: Finish of a Round

this is the time where player reveal thier cards. the opponent reveals that he has a king and a queen. which means he has a three of a kind over our two of a kind. this means we just lost this game since all of the wagered chips go to the winner...boo hoo...

2 Bye bye chips

and thats pretty much it...the play continues untill all of the players have no more chips left and there is one winner.
