Introduction: The Complete Leatherman?
A Leatherman addition I’ve been missing, the wrench! It's actually the second thing I've been missing since I made the Leatherman Horizontal Sheath :-)
Supplies
Small wrench 10mm width
Pipe 16mm, wall 1.5mm
Welding equipment
File and grinder to make it pretty!
Step 1: What the Leatherman!!!
I love my Leatherman and have it with me wherever I go, but I’ve missed one tool…
The WRENCH!
So I finally made a wrench that fits onto the Leatherman pliers and when not in use dangles on my keychain. A few instructables a go I made EDC keychain entery, this is a new favorite member in the EDC family.
Step 2: Pliers VS Wrench
I use the pliers all the time, they have a nice grip.
Still, it happens that they slip and ruin my nuts (&/or bolts).
So coming up with this little addition to my Leatherman made a lot of sense. Why hasn't Leatherman or anyone else done this?
Wrench 1 nill!
Step 3: Cut - Weld - Grind
I’m not a pro welder, but this task was pretty straightforward. I found a round pipe that would allow for the pliers to be inserted and the wrench inside made a snug fit and something to bite onto. Drilled a hole to attach to the keychain.
Step 4: Snap to Fit…
Step 5: Useful?
You betcha! I've made use of this little nugget several times. Even works for some jobs without the torque of the Leatherman. When this prototype is having its last days I might use a higher quality wrench, but for the types of job, I use this for it's plenty fine.
