Introduction: The Panel Table
The dimension: Width 38 x Length 90 x Height 2.5 centimeters.
Hello, In this project, I will use the old window panel to make it into the table.
I used the original color from the old window panel. It adds some classic or vintage look to table. It’s easy to do, all you need are the legs and the leg’s supports. The table can be use in any rooms and can be decorated piece as well. It will make your room look good. Let’s begin.
Supplies that you need to do The Panel Table’s project.
1. Old window panel.
2. Old hard wood or any kinds.
3. Screws, sand papers, wood glue, and spray clear lacquer.
Step 1: Cut the Top Rails and Legs
Clean the window panel will use as table top, just wash off carefully, if scrub too hard all the old paint will come off and let it dry. Now I cut the wood for the leg, I cut 4 legs using 4 x 4 height 72 centimeters and the wood for 4 top rails are 4 x 3 x 27.5 centimeters and 4 x 3 x 79 centimeters. For the joint, I use mortise and tendon on the top of the legs and at the end of the short and long top rails. The tendon joint is about 2 centimeters and cut at the 45 degree angle, so it will fit and make right angle inside the leg. I make mortise joints on both sides of the legs. Then I drill the small hole for the screw, since the top rail are 4 centimeters thick, I need to drill the bigger hole and the smaller hole, so that the screw will go in and not be seen. Next I sand all the pieces make them smooth and clean it.
Step 2: Making the Frame and Assembly
Now I attach the legs to all of the top rails by using wood glue and then use wood clamp to hold the frame in place. Let it dry overnight. Next I assembly the frame to the window panel by using the screws and leave 2 centimeters around the edges of the table top. Then I spray clear lacquer on the table top and the frame, about 2 coats.
Step 3: Order the Glass Top
Then measure the table top and go order the glass top. After I got the glass top, I place the clear bumper on top of the table at 4 corners and 2 in the middle. Now I place the glass on the table. It ready to use in any room.
