The Sparkle Ball - for Cats

Make a simple Sparkle Ball for your cat to play with. You will need 4 sparkly pipe cleaners. Regular ones will work too, but they won't be sparkly!

Step 1: Start First Circle

With the first pipe cleaner, make a circle about 2 inches in diameter.

Step 2: Finish First Circle

Wrap the excess pipe cleaner around the circle, working your way around, until you have a circle with no pipe cleaner sticking out.

Step 3: Connect Second Pipe Cleaner

Fold the second pipe cleaner around the first circle, about 3/4 inch from the edge of the second pipe cleaner. Bend the second pipe cleaner over on itself and twist it to itself to secure it.

Step 4: Make Second Circle

Make a second circle, perpendicular to the first one. Each time the pipe cleaners meet, wrap the second one around the first one to hold it in place.

Step 5: Finish Second Circle

When you have made your circle, wrap the excess pipe cleaner around the circle to hold it in place.

Step 6: Attach Third Pipe Cleaner

Attach your third pipe cleaner the same way you attached the second one. Find a spot in the middle of one of the semicircles from either of the first two pipe cleaners.

Step 7: Make Third Circle

Make a circle with the third pipe cleaner, wrapping it around each time it meets another pipe cleaner. When you've made a third circle, wrap the excess pipe cleaner to itself to secure.

Step 8: Attach a Handle

With your fourth pipe cleaner, fold it over (about 1 inch) around one of the crosses on the ball.

Step 9: Complete Your Toy

Twist the fourth pipe cleaner to itself to secure.

Step 10: Play With Your Cat!

Cats like swatting at it and pouncing on it when you dangle it from the handle. They also love batting it around on the floor by themselves or with another kitty!
