The Ultimate Survival Tin

I know, I know, exactly what your thinking "great another survival tin" but just take a look. Some of the things that I have in this thing you will not see in any other tin. I have crammed so much stuff into this tin that there is literally no more room to store things inside, so I had to attach things to the outside of it. 

The tin that I used is the BCB Mess Tin. I used it for three reasons:

1. More room, this tin is bigger than your standard candy tin and can hold more items.
2. Water proof, the lid has a removable rubber seal that creates a water proof seal when closed.
3. More durable, the tin is made from a heavy duty aluminum alloy and is coated with a special micro carbon finish that when held over an open flame, repels the black carbon that forms from the flame.

On the outside of the tin, I made a ring of paracord that fits around it. Attached to the paracord is a Fox 40 micro whistle that is extremely loud, if you're unfamiliar with this than you should know that it's the loudest for its size. The paracord also can attach to my belt loop so that when I'm walking(or running) it won't fall out of my pocket. Step 1:

On the very top of the tin I keep a mylar space blanket and a small trash bag for shelter. These two items are a true struggle to get into the tin but they do fit. With out these there is quite a bit of room to fill so I just put these in the kit to take up the extra room.
 

Step 2:

Here are some survival instructions that I printed off the internet, I find them very interesting their is one for traps, shelter and general survival tips like edible plants or first aid, not that I need these it's just a good idea to have because stressful environments can result in some temporary memory loss.

Step 3:

Here are a couple items that I have in this kit. First is a 4 in one multitool which includes a can opener, a spoon, a bottle opener, and a flat head screw driver. The other item is just basic sewing kit with various threads and needles.

Step 4:

My favorite part of this tin, the knife. This is only a prototype a knife that I would like to start selling as soon as I find a way to quickly make them, I am currently trying to start a knife making company. This one is about 3 inches long and was designed to fit into an Altoids tin, it will come with a kydex sheath and will sell for about 20$. There will also be an option of having it come with a survival kit including a fire starter, a fero rod, a few feet of paracord, fishing line with a jig, some steel wire, and a whistle.

Step 5:

Here I have some duct tape, super glue, floss with copper wire wrapped around it, nails and some fire starters.

Step 6:

This is a neat little thing that I made, it's half a match book with a piece of Mylar on the top to act as a mirror, some fish hooks taped to the inside of the lid, a foot of electrical tape, and wax coated matches in the book.

Step 7:

Here I have a three function LED, a liquid filled button compass, a piece of gum, and a fish bone that has glow in the dark duct tape on it.

Step 8:

I have a ferrocium rod wrapped in duct tape, 4 trick birthday candles, some storm matches wrapped with more duct tape, a ton struck anywhere matches, a lighter, and a self lighting fire starter that I made. If you want to know how to make these I have an instructable for that, just go to my page. 

Step 9:

Here I have a water purification straw, some mole skin (for blisters), some more storm matches wrapped with 30 feet of 50 pound test fishing line. Then I have a piece of a cutting board, a couple of fire crackers, and a small button.

Step 10:

Next I have some 16 water purification tablets, along with a bag that can hold on liter of water except I forgot to take a picture of it, sorry.

Step 11:

I have here the almost empty tin, inside are some fish hooks. The tin itself is great for cooking food or boiling water, along with holding stuff. !)

Step 12:

This is the lid, as you can see it has the rubber seal that I talked about earlier. Attached to the lid is a match striker and morse code instructions.

Step 13:

Here's the paracord ring that I also mentioned earlier with the whistle attached to it.
