Hello everyone, we going to see how to make a tribal masks in few simple steps
Supplies
Materials required
- Make a rough sketch of mask
- Air drying clay(approximately 600 grams required)
- Poster color / Acrylic color
- Brushes
- Sharp objects
Step 1: Step 1: Preparing Clay
First, take around 60% of clay and then it on a plastic paper (for convenience as it can stick on your table)
Now make the clay Uniformly distributed in the required shape
NOTE:
- you can use a cylindrical object with smooth surface for making the object to required shape
- The clay should be of at least 5mm thick in order to make it strong enough
- Use moist cloth and wipe it on your hands to extend working duration of clay
Step 2: Step 2: Create Shapes
After making the surface smooth create some shape for nose, eyes etc..
Remember : work fast as the clay will start fixing in about 1-2 hours(depends on clay)
Step 3: Step 3: Reforming Shape
After creating the required shapes, Use a blade or some sharp objects to cut the clay and then keep all the shapes on the clay at respective position ( as shown) and press slightly to attach the clay there
Note
- Don't apply excess force as the clay might get distorted or broken
Now let the clay dry for around 24 hours (Depending on clay it can dry faster also)
You also can cover the clay with a moist cloth to avoid ununiform drying (which may lead to cracks)
Step 4: Step 4: Painting
After making sure the clay dried completely you can use poster color or acrylic color to finish the Tribal mask and let it dry for sometime
In case of poster color varnish can be used to get a better finish
And now your Tribal mask is ready
Hope you liked it and enjoyed creating the mask
Thank you
