This step-by-step tutorial will walk you through how to update a video card on a Windows PC.

Step 1:

From the Start menu, go to the Control Panel.

Step 2:

Select Hardware and Sound.

Step 3:

Once in Hardware and Sound, select the Device Manager under Devices and Printers.

Step 4:

Select the drop down menu from Display Adapters to view the name of the video card driver. Write this name down for future reference.

Step 5:

Now, go the the manufacturer's website to download the update. In this case, our video card driver in Intel so we will be going to www.intel.ca.

Step 6:

Scroll to the bottom of the webpage and go to the Download Center.

Step 7:

From the first drop down menu, select Graphics Drivers. From the second drop down menu, select Desktop Graphics Drivers. And from the third drop down menu, select the name of the particular graphics driver you are looking for (the name you wrote down before). In this case, we are looking for the Intel (R) 82945G Express Chipset.

Step 8:

Once you have selected the particular driver you are looking for, you will be taken to a page with multiple downloads available. You will select the driver that corresponds with your version of windows (i.e. Windows XP, 7, etc.) and type of operating system (32 bit or 64 bit).
