Introduction: Vacation in Hawaii
There is nothing that compares to a vacation in Hawaii. It is such a wonderful, relaxing place to visit.
If you want to experience the nightlife and shopping then Oahu is where you might want to go. If you are looking for quiet beaches, lots of flowers and less traffic, Kauai is the perfect place.
Step 1: Planning Your Trip
It's important to do your research and plan ahead.
Do a web search for each island and your own personal interests.
What Island do you want to visit? Each one has it's own thing, it's very own feel.
Calculate how much the trip will cost and start saving up money. Making a budget and sticking to it will help to make your trip more enjoyable.
In Hawaii, everyone dresses casual all the time so there's no need to bring fancy clothes.
Hanging out at the beach is the best way, in my opinion, to spend a day in Hawaii!
Step 2: Buying a Plane Ticket
Once you decide when you are going, you can purchase a plane ticket. Search around for bargains and remember that flying on a weekday will save you money. Also, flying September through May will be less expensive than during the Summer months.
Step 3: Making Hotel Reservations
Search for a hotel within your budget and make reservations online.
Even better, there are several Airbnb locations to stay at in Hawaii. Many of these are under $75 per night!
Be sure to look for extra fees.
When you arrive at your Hotel, ask the desk clerk or host for recommendations for Restaurants and night life.
Find out where the locals go!
Step 4: Transportation
Hawaii has most major rental car companies at the airport, so most travelers rent a vehicle but it can run into quite an expense when you factor in the gas.
The big Island, Oahu, Kauai, and Maui all have public transportation with their buses. This is a good way to save money while you are visiting Hawaii. A couple of dollars will get you a ride. They have day passes that will save even more.
There are also several places to rent bicycles.
Step 5: Schedule Events
There are many things to do in Hawaii. Prioritize your list and that way, if you run out of time, you've gotten to do the most important things on the list.
Ziplining is loads of fun!
Wailua Falls is breathtaking
Kauai Coffee Company is a great place to spend an afternoon.
Step 6: See the Sights
There are many things to see and do in Hawaii. The islands are full of historical landmarks and museums for you to learn about the people and culture.
The Kilauea Lighthouse on the northeast shore of Kauai is an absolutely breathtaking sight to behold.
Step 7: Food in Hawaii
Hawaii has many delicious things to eat.
My favorite was Moco Loco, which is a bed of rice with hamburger patty topped with a fried egg & brown gravy.
Then there's Hula Pie at Duke's Barefoot Bar & Grill, it's absolutely wonderful!
You'll have to try the fish tacos too!
Hawaii is also famous for the Shave Ice, you have to try it al least once! It's delicious!
Step 8: Souvenirs
The best souvenirs are going to be the pictures you take. Some inexpensive and easy to pack items include postcards, T-shirts and key rings.
Don't overschedule or overspend and you'll have an unforgettable time!
