Introduction: Wood Sculpture

This is a 60's/70's inspired wood sculpture that is easy really to make.

1: Materials - Scrap Oak wood - wood dowel

I used two scrap pieces of 3/4" Oak 7"x7" for the base and 11"x7" for the main piece, but any type of wood would work.

The dowel is 3/8" Oak., cut to 11".

2: Print drawing

3: Glue print on to the 11"x7" main piece with a spray mount adhesive. The 3M - 45 worked great and it was possible to pull the paper off without the paper sticking to the wood.

4: Cut out the main piece - using band-saw, jigsaw or scroll-saw and sand the edge smooth if it is uneven.

5: If you have a router use a round-over bit for the edges, a sander or use sandpaper and a lot of elbow grease

6: Drill hole in main piece for dowel - find the middle of the main piece and drill a 3/8" hole for the dowel.

7: Drill a 3/8" hole in the center of the base.

8: Sand all parts

9: Optional - paint, stain and/or varnish all parts

10: Put the whole thing together. You can glue it if it seems loose, but if not, don't worry about it. It will be much easier to store or ship it if necessary.
