Desk Basketball Hoop

this is a basketball hoop made out of coffee cups. I really don't know what else to write. yep.......

materials

paper coffee cups about three
coffee cup lid
hot glue
tongue depressers
string
wire
scissors

Step 1: Make the Backboard

take two coffee cups and cut down one of the sides. cut off the base and the lip.(save one of the lips you'll need it later). glue the coffee cup pieces together like in the picture. then cut down the sides to make it straight. add the tongue depressers to the back to strengthen it up use a pattern like the one below.

Step 2: Make the Rim/net

take the lid and cut off the lip of it. then take a piece of wire and run it through the inside of the lip of the lid for support. that's the rim. now take the lip of the cup and glue on strip of coffee cup about the same length. glue those on to the inside of the lip of the cup. glue this to the rim. you do all off this to avoid melting the rim as much as possible.

Step 3: Attach the Rim

take two pieces of wire and bend them into a candy cane shape. put glue on the top of the back of the rim in two places right next to eachother. slide the the wire pieces on to the rim where you put the glue. as the glue dries clamp down on the on the wire and the rim to tighten the bond. now take two small squares of cup and glue each one on to a piece of wire then press it on to the frame near the bottom middle of the backboard.

Step 4: Add the String Loop

this is so hard (why is it so hard to be sarcastic on the internet, they need a special sarcastic font or something) take a loop of string and glue it to the back of the backboard on the top.

Step 5: Time to Play

make a ball out of crumpled paper and see who can get the most shots. enjoy.
